There is a lot of confusion around what it means for a husband to lead his family.
Biblical leadership does not give a husband permission to devalue his wife. His wife is his equal, and the two of them are one flesh.
That matters because you cannot separate leadership from the way you see the person you are leading.
In leading, a husband has to keep his eyes on the Father.
When your eyes are on God, He becomes the source for how you lead your household, how you treat your wife, and how you carry the responsibility of being a husband and father.
The goal is for the husband to be looking to God so he can lead his family well.
That creates a different kind of leadership because the husband is not supposed to be making himself the highest authority in the home. God is. The man leads as God leads him.
And when he understands that his wife is his equal and that they are one flesh, leadership does not become a reason to devalue her. It becomes part of how he serves the purpose God has for their household.
